Faith and Communities – Partnering to Prevent Crime and Violence
This CEU course provides useful strategies for building capacity, developing partnerships, and seeking grant opportunities. Topics of focus are: building capacity within faith-based organizations; partnering with organizations to prevent crime; and effective and efficient grant acquisition and management.
This CEU course provides guidelines that are intended to assist behavioral health and corrections and community corrections administrators in their ability to develop effective transition plans and to drive cross-system reentry approaches between behavioral health and criminal justice agencies. The guidelines examined in this course can be used as a tool within behavioral health agencies on the state and local levels to ensure that community-based approaches respond to the multidimensional needs of clients who are involved in the criminal justice system and the agencies that supervise them.
This CEU course: identifies the full range of beneficial information exchanges between the criminal justice and healthcare systems; provides detail on specific information exchanges within the context of routine criminal justice and health operations; serves as a guide to policymakers and practitioners seeking to implement information exchange, by offering detail on workflow and implementation issues; and offers a “blueprint” to certain specific information exchanges through the development of technical use cases.
Factors Affecting Health of Women of Color
This CEU course examines the health care systems, the major diseases, and the barriers to accessing health care for women of American Indians / Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders, Hispanics and Latinos, Blacks / African Americans, and Asian Americans.
Dual Diagnosis: Understanding Co-Occurring Mental Illness and Substance Use Disorders
Behavioral health professionals have a responsibility to be aware of the complex relationship between mental illness and substance abuse or dependence, known as dual diagnoses or co-occurring disorders. This brief continuing education course was developed to present information to help support those with dual diagnosis, so they may experience lasting results that enable them to lead healthy and productive lives. Topics include characteristics and prevalence, theories, screening and assessment, and treatment of dual diagnosis.
