Physical Detoxification from Substances
This course highlights specific treatment regimens for specific substances and provides guidance on the medical, nursing, and social services aspects of these treatments. Substances covered are alcohol, benzodiazepines and other sedative- hypnotics, stimulants, inhalants-solvents, nicotine, THC containing drugs, anabolic steroids, and club drugs. It also includes what should be considered for specific populations.It also contains definitions for technical terms related to the topic.

This course provides information that clinical practitioners need when deciding whether to introduce drug testing in their practices. It offers guidance on implementing drug testing, and describes some of the ways that drug testing can contribute to assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients seen in primary care. It also covers the management of the treatment of chronic pain, and the identification and treatment of substance use disorders. 10 CEU hrs. $30

Mental Health Medications Update 2012
This course, an update from our earler course, gives a brief overview of how psychotherapeutic medications are used as treatment for mental illnesses. It covers specific medications for treating schizophrenia, depression, biploar disorder, anxiety disorders, and ADHD. In addition to describing each type of mental disorder and the effect medications have on it, the course gives information on side effects of the medications listed, directions for taking the medications, and FDA warnings where appropriate. 3 CEU hrs. $9

Injury Prevention and Elderly Care
This course provides guidelines for nursing home employers to help reduce the number and severity of work-related musculoskeletal disorders in their facilities. The recommendations in these guidelines are based on a review of existing practices and programs, State OSHA programs, as well as available scientific information, and comments received from representatives of trade and professional associations, labor organizations, the medical community, individual firms, and other interested parties. OSHA hopes that employers with similar work environments will find these guidelines applicable such as assisted living centers, homes for the disabled, homes for the aged, and hospitals, as well as nursing homes. 3 CEU hrs $9

Older Adults and Depression
This course describes what an evidence-based practice (EBP) for treating older adults with depression is. It also presents factors to consider when choosing an EBP; identifies which EBPs are available for older adults with depression; and describes the available training resources. These interventions are more likely to reduce depressive symptoms in older adults than other interventions when implemented correctly. EBPs covered include psychotherapy interventions, antidepressant medications, multidisciplinary geriatric outreach services, and collaborative and integrated mental and physical health care. 10 CEU hrs $30

Quantum Accepting ScholarshipsIn an effort to assist participants with their continuing education requirements, Quantum Units Education will be awarding 5 participants CEU financial aid scholarship awards of 20 CE hours each. Applications will be based upon financial need in the following priority:

1) Unemployed Single Parents
2) Unemployed  
3) Low Income, Employed

We will accept applications online only during the months of April and November of every year. 5 Awards will be granted in May and again in December. 20 CE hours will be credited to an online account in the participant’s name with no expiration on when the hours are to be used.
